Regardless of what hip-hop era you claim to be your favorite, '90s rap will always hold a place in the minds of many as a cornerstone for inspiration. For Brooklyn's own Rome Streetz, it's quite clear that he's a student of the aforementioned golden age by the looks of his new music video for a track titled "Snowbeach."
Arriving off his Joyeria EP in collaboration with producer The Artivist (seen above), "Snowbeach" is a nod to Wu-Tang Clan both in sound and by the song title that references Raekwon's classic Lo Head steez. Lyrically, Rome's delivery on this track is synonymous with the ruggedness of his borough, which comes full circle when you get a look at the accompanying visuals, directed by @sivvytah, that gives us a closer look into his side of BK.
While it's not uncommon for rappers to talk about their fashion on wax, the Lafayette x PRIVILEGE Crew got a chance to ask the homie Rome, decked out in our LFYT Box Logo hoodie as seen in the featured photo below, what it was like for him personally to merge rap with the art of getting fresh. Here's what he had to say:
"NYC rap is in a good place — you can find whatever style you like. I just plan to be the one in the forefront of the new Renaissance."
